INTERNATIONAL LITERARY AND ART COMPETITION (COMIC BOOK CONTEST)

   FOR CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES

Competition partner: Polish Studies Association based at the Faculty of Polish Studies of the Jagiellonian University
Competition goals:
1. Promote Father Beyzym’s life and activities.
2. Develop comics’ text creation skills.
3. Support social mindfulness; develop empathy and sensitivity with regard to the environment needs.
Competition form:
The competition is aimed at children, youth and families. The competition participant:
Learns about Father Beyzym’s life and activities, as well as the history of people and places connected with his personality.
The competition entries can represent the chosen Father’s biography period, depicted from different prospects, e.g. from the viewpoint of people who met or knew Father Beyzym, his deeds or places connected with his activities, etc.
Competition participant:
  • Prepares the competition entry individually or in two-three people family team.
  • Creates 3 A4 comics sheets (4 scenes per sheet; drawings and text in Polish, English, French or Ukrainian) using markers, felt-tip pens, ink or ballpoint pens.
  • Uses only the black writing and a white or light background.
  • Sends the entry scan or a good-quality photo to the following e-mail address: janbeyzym@gmail.com .
  • Attaches the scan or a photo of the filled in application form with the personally signed statement.
  • The e-mailed materials should be identifiable, e.g.: author’s name and surname, comics/sheet.
Competition procedure:
The competition jury selects the winners in each category. The winners receive diplomas and prizes. Selected works are to be published in the “MISYJNYM SZLAKIEM (On the Missionary Trail)” bulletin and posted on the Web site www.beyzym.pl.
Evaluation criteria:
Assessing the competition entries the jury takes into account the artistic level and subject depiction originality. The work should be titled and meet the requirements of its genre. The literary part can be written in any language, but should be orthographically, punctually, stylistically and linguistically correct.
Deadline:
December 31 2018.
Announcement of results:
February 2019.

COMPETITION RULES

1. All the competition information is published on the Web site www.beyzym.pl.
2. All the questions with regard to the competition are to be sent to: janbeyzym@gmail.com.
3. The properly filled in application form should be attached to the competition entry.
4. The competition entry should not violate anybody’s copyright.
5. The Selection Board evaluates and assesses the competition entries.
6. The Selection Board decisions are final.
7. The competition participants, qualified for the final vote, are informed via e-mail or telephone.
8. Awards: diplomas and prizes are provided by the competition organizer.
9. Selected works are to be published in the “MISYJNYM SZLAKIEM (The Missionary Path)” bulletin and posted on the Web site www.beyzym.pl.
10. The winners’ patrons receive the letters of acknowledgement.
11. The winners’ names are published on the Web site www.beyzym.pl.
12. The competition entries are the property of the competition organizer and can be used for educational and promotional purposes.
